Decision: Prince
Last night my Bike Coalition pals and I went to Cafe du Nord for a dance party called "Prince vs. Michael." I'm sure you can imagine it... lots of sweaty groove-shaking to a Prince song, then a Michael Jackson song, then a Prince song, etc. To answer your question, Sara, yes they played "Thriller," and no, it was nowhere near the scene in "13 Going on 30." Sadly.
We didn't stay until the end, so I don't know if there was any consensus on who "won." There are great songs on both sides, but Prince's side included his many rocking friends/proteges/lovers, like Morris Day and Vanity 6 and Sheila E. Michael doesn't seem to have many friends, esp. these days. Macauley Culkin and Elizabeth Taylor are great in their own way, but until they come out with dance remixes, Michael is standing alone. Decision: Prince.
