Baby Sign Language

100_0204.jpg

I admit, I thought Naomi was crazy when I found out she was trying to teach my niece baby sign language last fall. I was sure Isabel would learn how to talk really soon, and she'd tell us what was on her mind way before she ever learned how to make the right signs. Shows what I know... six months later and Izzle only says a couple of words reliably (dog, no, and mamameme), but her BSL is unbelievable. She makes the signs for hot, cold, book, hat/helmet, glasses, bottle, baby, dog, bird, eat, phone, brush teeth, sleep, that, more, kisses/besos and goodbye. Not to mention she can do party tricks like "raise the roof," "who has a question?," "silly smile," "high five," and the ever-popular "where's Isabel's belly button?" Mark my words, this kid is going places.

OK. Just now at lunch two people were talking about BSL and now this. It's all the rage!
