One year anniversary

I don't usually get sentimental about technology, but it's been a year for me and Gmail, and I think it's getting serious. This is the first, and maybe will be the only, time I can really be considered an "early adopter" of anything -- Les scored me a Gmail account six weeks after they first existed. Just early enough that some people begged me to get them an account, and accounts were being auctioned off online for actual money, goods, services, etc. I was even early enough to get my first name with last initial as an address -- a fact that has yet to impress anyone (but I'm still hopeful).

Gmail is great because the storage is pretty much unlimited, there are no annoying ads (there are some ads, but they are not annoying), the search function is excellent, and mostly because of the conversation threading. It is kind of hard to explain what that is, but it means that the 14 e-mails I've gotten so far about Nicole's bbq on Sunday take up 1 line in my inbox, and not 14.

Happy anniversary to us!
