On the radio
Yeah, I was a contestant on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" 100 years ago, Carl Kasell (and later Daniel Schorr) recorded the message on my answering machine -- but that's old news. Emily H. is living the real public radio American dream: she's the subject of a piece on last week's "This American Life." It is hilarious, and a little sad. Best of all, it features the classic Ira Glass disclaimer: "A warning to listeners -- there's nothing explicit or graphic in this story, but it does acknowledge the existence of sex." Listen to it here. Her story starts at minute 46.
I haven't been this excited about a TAL segment since my cousin Amanda was interviewed by Ira himself, in the prologue of this episode!!
