Your love's got me lookin so crazy right now
I'm starting to feel really old.
Last month, I was at a party and the DJ played a song that elicited squeals of delight from everyone on the dance floor except me, because I had never heard it before. I tried to play it cool and inconspicuously dance over to the Itunes song list, then casually check the screen to see what all the fuss was about. It was, of course, "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce, which I understand from Entertainment Weekly was the song of the summer -- the summer of, yikes, 2003.
The next day I downloaded it and asked the youngest and coolest person I know (Pete) for other examples of the genre -- great dance songs that everyone knows about but me, and he pointed me to a few by Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliott, and others (and if anyone else has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them). So... I'm trying. Hopefully I won't feel like such a dinosaur at the next dance party, may it be soon!
I felt a tiny bit redeemed yesterday when my dad was doing the NYT crossword puzzle and needed me to explain what "bling" is.
Peace out.

Surely your father is familiar with Bling Bling, the loveable panda at the San Diego zoo?
She's China's greatest export since Jackie Chan.
