Bootielicious

My steak club guys have been talking about mash-ups for months, but it wasn't until Harold sent me to mashuptown that I truly understood the brilliance of the concept. Mash-ups are created when a DJ takes 2 more songs and -- you guessed it -- mashes them up. For example, "Superfreak"/"Girls on Film," "Control Myself"/"Funky Cold Medina," and "Beethoven's Fifth"/"A Fifth of Beethoven"/"Gold Digger." Ted says they sound like when the radio is stuck between 2 stations, but I like them.

On Friday night Steve, other Steve, Danny and I went to DNA for Bootie, a monthly mash-up dance party. It was their 3rd Anniversary Party, and the theme was "pirate's ball." I nodded to the theme with a bandanna on my head and small skull-and-crossbones tattoos, but Steve (above) went all out. My other favorite was the woman wearing a puffy shirt with a fake parrot perched on her shoulder. Shiver me timbers, why didn't I think of that?

I felt a little better at Amnesia last night, when I karaoked "You Give Love a Bad Name" accompanied by a guy on a cowbell.
